Worcester Joggers Frequently asked questions
Who are we?
We are a jogging club, which aims to provide a good, social atmosphere in which to run.
The Club has runners of all ages [over 16] and abilities, with a 50:50 mix of women and men.
If you are a beginner or a marathon runner---and anything in between!----we can cater for your needs. There are several groups which run each club evening, and we have a good record in assisting beginners to get up to a good standard. We have a “Beginners Coach” to help if anyone needs it.
The group who gather each club evening decide a route, and whether to jog in several groups so as to suit different paces. Each group ensures that they “muster” back
So nobody gets left behind

Where and when do we meet?
We meet every Monday [inc most Bank Holidays], at 7pm, Perdiswell Leisure Centre, off the Bilford Rd, Worcester. We gather just inside or outside main reception ---depending on the weather!
You are very welcome to just turn up. But if you contact one of us beforehand someone will be there to look out for you.

We also meet on Thursday Evenings at the same time for a slightly faster training run. For marathon runners a group meets most Sundays at 08:45 from Perdiswell Leisure Centre for a longer gentle run.

Are we into racing?
Although racing isn’t the main aim of the Club, an increasing number of members are taking part in race events of various types: road races, cross-country, multi-terrain, fell racing, bi and triathlons etc---and of varying distances. One of our beginners of last summer completed the Bourton-on-the-Water 10k in a very credible time this spring.
People have a wealth of knowledge about the local [and not so local ] races, and can advise where to go for a fast /hilly/etc race –and perhaps the races not to start with for your first race!!
We often enter races as a club or a group, and we have a friendly competition for a trophy each year.
The Joggers have won the Warndon Race Team Trophy for the last three years.

Is it all “sweat, toil and tears “?
By no means! We meet for a drink after the Monday run, to replenish the liquids lost during exercise!
We also meet up for a meal [Balti, Greek,Chinese etc ] every 4weeks plus other activities as planned.

Is the Club affiliated?
The members have decided to apply to affiliate to the Midland Counties AA. However at the moment we have had our application refused on the sole reason that our name of "Worcester Joggers"  could cause "confusion" with the other existing club in Worcester - "Worcester Athletic Club".  We think this is unreasonable as our club has existed now for nearly tweny years without any apparent confusion, so we are fighting this decision.

We intend both to keep the membership fee as low as possible [£5 in the first year] and retain the friendly, informal atmosphere. Joining as a Member is entirely optional .
